Still Standing…

Hello Darlings,

How did the week go? One more week down right? Never to late to start something o, better late than never.

How was church today? Trust it was great too.

The hymn for today is a reminder of His promises.

Read, Sing, Meditate, Enjoy!!
God can

Standing On The Promises

“Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”-Psalm 124:8

Standing on the promises of Christ my King,

Through eternal ages let His praises ring;

Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,

Standing on the promises of God

“…stand still and consider the wondrous works of God.”-Job 37:14,, standing on the promises of God my Saviour,,

I am standing on the promises of God.

“Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king…..for there are more with us than with him. With him is an arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles.”-2 Chronicles 32:7-8a

Standing on the promises that cannot fail,

When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,

By the living word of God, I shall prevail,

Standing on the promises of God.

“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”-John 8:36

Standing on the promises I now can see,

Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;

Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,

Standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,

Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,

Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,

Standing on the promises of God.

“Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you faultless, before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy…”-Jude 1:24

Eph 6v10

Standing on the promises I cannot fall,

Listening every moment to the Spirit’s call,

Resting in my Saviour as my all in all,

Standing on the promises of God.

“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassion fail not. They are new every morning, great is your faithfulness. The Lord is my portion says my soul, therefore I have hope.”-Lamentations3:22-24

No doubt about it, battles rage in this life. Things don’t always go as planned, there are always things to do. It might be the bills that are yet to be paid, or a strained relationship, a job that’s sapping life out of you, a boss that’s out to make your life miserable, a child that’s not doing so well, prayers that are yet to be answered, dreams and aspirations to catch up on, or daily battle to put food on the table and to keep spirit, soul and body together.

“…you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”-John 16:33b

In all these, we have a God! Truth is if you are not in the midst of a battle presently, it means you are just leaving one or about to enter one. As long as we are in this world, there will always be battles to fight, things will happen to shake our faith, but the hope we have is that we never fight our battles alone. In fact, we don’t fight them at all. Hope breathes in this promise. We don’t have to be afraid or discouraged, when things/situations seem at their worst, we can be strong and courageous. Here’s the best part: During the battle, the Lord isn’t watching and cheering us on, He is fighting on our behalf. That’s enough hope/assurance to face whatever tomorrow brings.

“Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God’s.

Things will happen to us that we won’t be able to control. In times like that, we are to remember His promises.

Isaiah 41v13

“You are of God little children, and have overcome them, because greater is He that is in you, than He that is the world.”-1 John 4:4

“Be still and know that I am God.”-Psalm 46:10a

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of good and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”-Jeremiah 29:11

Keep standing on His promises, till your expected end comes!

Have a great week.

Performance Review.

Hi Dearies,

So it’s the 16th day of February already. Before we spell out Jack Robinson, it’ll be October and then November and then December and then what??

Remember December 2013? It passed by not too long ago and we were so happy. If not for anything, it ushered in a new year. January came along and you just wrote out this long list of things to do in 2014. You probably did not even write anything out, you have it all in your head. Well if I may ask, how far have you gone? Remember your goals? how you told yourself (for a student) how your result this semester will be nothing short of excellent? how you promised yourself you are gonna finish your bible this year? You probably told yourself you are starting a new business this year or getting a new job or getting married or starting a particular course or doing this or that bla bla? Well, if I may ask again, how far have you gone? Where are you presently? what have you done? Have you even taken steps at all? If wishes were horses they say, everybody will ride on them but thank God they are not, means we have to get up and do something!

By His grace, I work in a Bank. I work in a department where there is always action, you can’t be nonchalant, it is at your own risk. Trust me, you don’t really know how it works in this department until you’ve been there. There is money to be made, targets to be met, pressure everywhere, there is always something to do. The thing however is that you are given your budget at the beginning of a new year, you can decide to divide it by twelve and choose to do 1/12 of the total budget every month or you can even decide to do every thing in January and keep the money till December (if you have supernatural powers sha). In theory that’s really fine but in reality, who will leave money in the Bank for a year without touching it at all? The fact that people will keep withdrawing means you have to keep pushing for more deposits. The deposit is just an aspect but that’s what I’m talking about today.

There are meetings we hold on a bi-monthly basis (You don’t wanna hear the full gist). The first one is called ‘mid month MPR-Monthly Performance Review’ and the other one is just MPR. The first one comes up in  the middle of the month. Here you tell the whole house how you’ve fared in Naira and Kobo, what you did to get those results (if you are doing well) and what you will do to get the required result before the end of the month (If you are not doing well) and you don’t just talk prose like one of my ogas will say, you talk Naira and Kobo. The second is MPR-Monthly Performance Review. Here you tell the whole house how you fared, what you did or didn’t do and what the plans for the coming month are. God help you if you did not do well, you sooo will not smile out of the meeting room.

Most times, when the pressure gets to me, I just sit down and think, the kind of commitment I have to this job ehn, if I can apply just half of it to other areas of my life, results for plenty o.

The point I’m trying to make is this, once they dish out everyone’s budget in the beginning of the year, why will they not just leave us to do our thing and bring results in December? The answer is not far-fetched or is it? Nothing will ever be done that way. I’m sure any one will ever meet their target, and story go plenty like anything. And we wonder how Banks make money! It’s not rice and beans my dear, it takes discipline.

Same for you sweetie, if you want results this year, you had better get started on your own personal Monthly Performance Review. Think about it really, I mean, you don’t have anything to lose. Bring out your goals and if you don’t have them written yet, what are you still waiting for? Pick up your pen right away and write something! I remember me some years ago, I used to be really lazy when it comes to stuffs like these. I mean I was in school, my goal was to pass and pass well, so why write it down abeg? If you are like me, I must tell you, you are not helping yourself at all.

“Write the vision, and make it plain on tablets (Yeah, that’s right! or phones or laptops or journals, just write!) that he may run with it who reads it…”-Habbakuk 2:2

You see, what do you run with if you have nothing written? What happens when you get 40% and you think you’ve ‘arrived’? Biko write something! It doesn’t hurt anyone and since it’s your life, 30 minutes or even 3 hours of your time is nothing at all. Dream ‘big’, act ‘big’, pray ‘big’ and ‘big’ things will come to you.

Strategize! Plan! If you want to have done this ‘thing’ come December, what do you need to do now? What steps do you need to take? One step at a time really makes a world of difference. You want to start your own business, start saving right away, read, study, enrol for courses, don’t just sit down and waste away. You want to study the bible in a year, start right away, join bible study groups, I STRONGLY recommend LA family on twitter (LA=Learning & Applying).

We went through the bible in less than a year. Even on days that I could not read, I had people checking up on me, sharing what they’ve read etc. If I did it, you also can do it! There are also other bible study groups you can join, just make sure you are not where you were yesterday.

I have things I want to do, areas I need to work on, God knows. I need to work on my  people skills, am a people’s person really, but I can get better. I need to work on my relationships, I know I don’t invest as I should. I want to inspire people, I want to do a whole lot of things, but ‘wanting’ to do and ‘doing’ are two different things. Am I there already? mba o, have I done all that should be done? not so o, but I’m embarking on this journey and I’m inviting you to be a part of what I’ll call PMPR- Personal Monthly Performance review or PWPR=Personal Weekly Performance Review or even PDPR-Personal Daily Performance Review.

I love you really and I want to see you at your best come December. On a monthly basis, i’ll try to write something to remind you of your commitment to yourself.

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”- Eleanor Roosevelt.

Get started already!

What a Friend!!

Hello Beautiful People,

Trust the week was good.

And Church today? Great? Perfect!

The Hymn for today is a little reminder that we don’t have to bear it all alone, that’s way too much work. We can choose to hand everything over to the one who has called us friends.

Read, Sing, Meditate, Enjoy!

What a Friend!

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are my friends, if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends…”- John 15:13-15

What a friend we have in Jesus,

All our sins and grief to bear!

What a privilege to carry

Everything to God in prayer!

Oh what peace we often forfeit,

Oh, what needless pain we bear-

All because we do not carry

Everything to God in prayer!

 “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you fall into temptation.”-Luke 22:46

Have we trials and temptations?

Is there trouble anywhere?

We should never be discouraged;

Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Can we find a friend so faithful?

Who will all our sorrows share?

Jesus knows our every weakness,

Take it to the Lord in prayer.

“Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”-1 Peter 5:7

Are we weak and heavy-laden?

Cumbered with a load of care?

Precious Saviour still our refuge-

Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?

Take it to the Lord in prayer;

In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,

Thou wilt find a solace there.

Prayer is much more than an obligation, it is a communication. It is an out-pouring of one’s mind to a friend who can turn things around, a friend who says something, and stands by His word.

“God is not a man that He should lie,

Nor a son of man that He should repent.

Has He said and He will not do?

Or has He spoken and He will not make it good?”-Numbers 23:19

Most times when we result to giving up, the solution to our problem or challenge as the case may be is just a prayer away. Sometimes all we just need to do is mention the situation to God, even if it is in a conversation.

I’ve been in situations where I know perfectly well that I need to pray, but guess what? I couldn’t. I mean, life has a way of throwing one off balance. In times like that, I just start talking to God as though he were in the room with me, and oh, I think such prayers yield results faster than the ones I do ‘religiously’. God does not want to be seen as a big God up there, He wasn’t to be involved in every decision we make, every little detail of our life, He wants to have a living relationship!

Prayer should be a life style, it shouldn’t be done when convenient. Trust me, there is no such thing as a convenient time to pray. When things are good, please pray. When things are bad or not so good, please pray some more! When prayer becomes a part of our life, we see its power. Now, whoever said prayer is a walk in the park must be a joker. It takes letting go of some things and it takes sacrifice. However, when we weigh the options- carry everything to God in prayer or carry everything ourselves and bear the pain alone- we’ll agree that it’s way easier taking it all to God.

“Men ought always to pray and not lose heart.”- Luke 18:1

I know it always seem easy complaining about situations or telling other people about it, but the best you can get here is, ‘sorry’ and that’s even if you are really lucky. If you are not so lucky, the people you tell about your problems will give you ‘solutions’. Before you say Jack, you find yourself considering the solutions and the mess becomes bigger.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in EVERTHING by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God; and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”- Phillipians 4:6-7

Think about it really, if you cannot pray for yourself, what then can you do for yourself? If you cannot pray until you see changes in your life, who then will? Bless God for Christian mothers, mothers who pray for their children day and night. I mean really, this is a good thing right? but it really has made some of us lazy. What happens when the mother dies? In as much as you have people praying for you, you should also learn to pray, and I mean really pray for yourself. It’s your life after all!

You say, ‘what will be will be’, I say, ‘some things will not happen except we pray about them.’- Matthew 17:21

“Pray all the time. Ask God for anything in line with the Holy Spirit’s wishes. Plead with Him, reminding Him of your needs, and keep praying earnestly for all Christians everywhere.”- Ephesians 6:18

If we make prayer a life style, before long, we’ll find ourselves praying for other people, praying for nations, praying for big changes. Now when I say pray for people, I do not mean the ‘God bless my friends and those suffering’ kinda prayer. I mean praying for people by mentioning their names and the situation they are in. I’m not saying it’s not good to pray for your friends generally, I’m saying when you mention names, it shows commitment. Deep within you, you know you must keep praying till something happens.

“…Continue steadfastly in prayer…”- Romans 12:12b

The next time you tell someone you’ll pray for them, please be committed to it.

“Don’t just pretend that you love others, really love them.”- Romans 12:9a

If you will not pray, don’t bother saying it. That way, the person does not at least think she knows someone somewhere praying for her.

“Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not lose heart.”- Galatians 6:9

How do we know we are not just babbling when we pray?

 “…Now my eyes will be opened and my ears attentive to the prayer made in this place.”- 2Chron 7:15

“Now this is the confidence we have in Him, when we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”- 1 John 5:14

“Say to the righteous, it shall be well with him!”- Isaiah 3:10a

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”- Phillipians 4:19

We shall continue to pray, we will never give up!!!

Have a beautiful week.

Stand Up!

Hey Dearies,

Trust y’all doing great. How was church today? If you’re still saying you are not the ‘church-church’ type, well, I’ll say you are missing out on so much manna that could make your life better and easier. It’s all about Him!

Today’s hymn is a call, a challenge, a reminder. Read, sing, meditate, enjoy!

Stand Up

Stand up, stand up for Jesus,

Ye soldiers of the cross,

Lift high His royal banner,

it must not suffer loss.

From victory unto victory,

His army shall He lead,

till every foe is vanquished,

and Christ is Lord indeed.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus,

the trumpet call obey;

forth to the mighty conflict,

in this His glorious day.

Ye that are brave now serve Him

against unnumbered foes;

let courage rise with danger,

and strength to strength oppose.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus,

stand in His strength alone;

the arm of flesh will fail you,

ye dare not trust your own.

Put on the gospel armor,

each piece put on with prayer,

where duty calls or danger,

be never wanting there.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus,

the strife will not be long;

this day, the noise of battle,

the next the victor’s song.

To those who vanquish evil

a crown of life shall be;

they with the King of glory,

shall reign eternally.

Stand up for JESUS!!!

For how long shall we be comfortable sitting, ye soldiers of the cross?

For how long shall we allow evil to thrive?

For how long shall we hide our light? ‘I don’t want people to see me as being too religious’ we say or ‘i just believe in live and let live.’

Well, the only thing necessary for evil to thrive is for good men to sit back and watch, and say or do nothing!

In your little corner, please shine, by all means shine!

“And the light shines in the darkness and the darkness did not (i daresay cannot) comprehend it.” – John 1:4

A little candle, when lit can brighten up a whole room, never mind the fact that it is just a little candle. Same for the light you carry, it can brighten up the world if you keep it burning.

Sometime ago, I read about a young undergraduate. According to the guy, he was a Christian, not just the ‘shout it loud, rub it in the face of others’ kinda christian. By that i mean he believes there is a God, who sent His son to die for our sins. He reads the bible, he prays but preach? he had not tried that out and he just believed he wasn’t cut out for it, it was sooo not his calling, he told himself. He was this kind of person that would even tell God he could do anything for his name though. He knew he was saved, he had that much conviction and that was alright by him. On this particular day, he was in class and the lecturer that was supposed to take them that morning had not made it to the class. All of a sudden, he started hearing this voice in his head. He could feel it, that the Holy Spirit wanted him to go to the board and write a simple line-Jesus is Lord. Sweat covered him up and he started shaking. Other students around him were gisting, nobody noticed him. The nudge became stronger, he didn’t know what to do. He opted for prayers, even spoke in tongues for a while.

“Lord I promise I will do this in church, i promise i will tell my friends on my way home but to come out in front of the whole class? this could be super embarrassing!”

Well, that didn’t seem to work, so he tried another line.

“Lord please send the lecturer here now. We are supposed to be having a class for crying out loud. There is a time for everything right?”

When he realised nothing was working, he tried yet another line.

“Fine! I will go but Lord you’d better hold my hand or i will fall before getting to the board.”

With that, he stood up, took a step at a time and moved closer to the board. He could feel eyes piercing his back, he was still covered up with sweat so people were probably wondering, he told himself.

He got to the board, picked up the chalk and was about to write when he heard a voice behind him.

“Settle down class, we don’t have all day.”

He turned around and couldn’t believe his eyes, the lecturer was here at last!

He quietly walked back to his seat.

“Lord, was that a joke or something?”

“Well done son, it was just a test, and you passed.”

The question is, how far can you go for the faith you claim you possess? People of this world talk about their beliefs and convictions more than we do as Christians. We just sit down and watch or nod or worse still, keep silent. ‘I don’t want to be seen as a fanatic’, we say or ‘this is really the work of the Holy spirit. I mean, I am just human.’ Well darling, truly it’s the work of the Spirit to convince but you have to plant a seed.

“For if you tell others with your own mouth, that Jesus Christ is your Lord, and believe in your own heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in His heart that a man becomes right with God; and with his mouth, he tells others of his faith, confirming his salvation.”-Romans 10:9-10

You have to speak out, you cannot just be silent, nothing’s gonna happen that way. You believe in Jesus? Tell it to somebody. You believe in virginity? share your belief with someone, you might just be encouraging someone to hold on, you might be telling someone, that contrary to popular belief, everybody is not ‘doing it’. You don’t believe in cheating? Say it out loud. Let people know what you stand for! Stand for something or you’ll fall for anything! You know nowadays, the things we all know are bad are the things the society has embraced and guess what, we just act like we don’t care. Some of us even go all the way with the world, ‘if everyone is doing it, it cannot be bad’ we say. Well, i say dare to be different, stand up for Jesus!

“But how shall they ask him to save them unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them?”– Romans 10:14

The beauty of Christianity is, you don’t have to stand behind the pulpit to touch lives, you don’t have to carry a big bible to encourage someone, you don’t have to be an orator to share the good news. All you need, to do that which He sent you to do is already within you. You say I’m a doctor, i say you have the perfect opportunity to touch lives. You say I’m just a nursery school  teacher, i say you alone can catch them young. You say I’m a politician, no way on earth am i going to stand and preach, i say, remember Daniel? The guy that was thrown in the lion’s den? Yep, that very one. Dude was a politician, he was even a Governor, he stood for something, and guess what? he transformed the whole nation! You say I’m a banker, these things are not as easy as they sound, money must be made. I say,

“Whatsoever you do, whether you eat or drink, do all to the glory of God.”

Esther was a beauty queen, a fashionista,  yet she lived for God.

You see, when all is said and done, it’s not about the number of days you lived, but about the number of lives you touched. Ain’t about the numbers of cars you drive, but about the number of souls you show ‘THE WAY’.

The Davids, Daniels, Josephs, Esthers, Ruths, Abrahams, Pauls of the bible will have things to say against our generation if we refuse to do ‘something’. “These people all trusted God  and as a result, won battles, overthrew kingdoms, ruled their people well and received what God had promised them.”-Hebrews 11:33

“Don’t hide your light, let it shine for all; let your good deeds glow for all to see, so that they will praise your heavenly father.”– Matthew 5:16

Stop comparing your light to others’, shine in your own little way. Use all He deposited in you for Him, Speak about Him, write about Him, sing about Him, it’s all about Him!

We are going public with this message, as public as a city on the hill, we refuse to be silent! (Matthew 5:14. The Message, paraphrased).

“Go into the world and preach…” He who has called us is able to keep us strong. Without Him, we can do nothing, the arm of flesh will fail. With Him, we can do all things! If we believe, we shall do greater works than He did!

“Blesses are those who are called to the marriage supper of the lamb.”-Rev 19:9 Don’t be selfish, be a blessing, take someone with you!

I dare you to stand up, stand up for Jesus!!!

Have a wonderful week.

Lift Me Up!

“I will extol you, O Lord, for you have lifted me up…”-Ps 30:1a

Hi all,

Happy new month!

The arrival of February is a reminder that we have just 11 more months in 2014. Can you imagine o, 2014 that came when sef? Yesterday?
That however, is the reality of life. The days are rolling by and if one is not ‘smart’ enough, there will be no other choice than to bite fingers come 31st December.
By the way, how was Church today? I had a really great time, first sundays are always super for me. So I saw this somewhere and thought to share, ‘don’t wait for 6 strong men to take you to church (in the coffin), go while you can.’

Matthew 7:7 is one of my favourite Bible verses, there is no hide and seek about life, do what should be done and you’ll get what you should get.

“The Lord our God spoke to us in Hebrew saying, ‘you have dwelt long enough at this mountain.”-Deuteronomy 1:6
It is time to move!

The hymn for today is for people who are tired of where they are now, people who have decided that the rest of this year must be better than January, people who want to leave their comfort zones for the place where eagles fly! Sing, Pray, Meditate, Enjoy!

I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I’m onward bound,
“Lord plant my feet on higher ground.”

Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith on Heaven’s tableland,
A higher place than I have found;
Lord plant my feet on higher ground.

My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where those abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.

Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith on Heaven’s tableland,
A higher place than I have found;
Lord plant my feet on higher ground.

I want to live above the world,
Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.

Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith on Heaven’s tableland,
A higher place than I have found;
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright
But still I’ll pray till heav’n I’ve found,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

To move to the higher ground, you can’t afford to be comfortable with your present position, you must keep pressing on, gaining new heights daily. You know I laugh when I see Christians pray for 24 straight hours and just sit around, doing nothing, we just hand ourselves over to the enemy that way. Now, you may ask, ‘ why didn’t Jesus just fast and pray throughout His ministry on earth? Why did He reach out to people? Why did He perform miracles? Why did He preach the Word? You get it now?

‘Still praying as I’m onward bound…’
You must pray and by all means, you must ACT as well to see the changes you desire. The red sea did not part till Moses and the Israelites took that step. Faith without work is dead!

“…when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”-Ps 62:2

No matter what is going on around you, or what people are saying, your aim for this year should be that higher ground, in all areas of your life. Refuse to be an average person or a mediocre, go for the moon, even if you don’t get it, you’ll definitely land among stars!
Some people don’t even get bothered at all by their situation, ‘it is the will of God’ they say or they go around telling people how wicked God is.

“..and the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only and not beneath…”- Deuteronomy 28:13a

Now, I know faith in God includes faith in His timing, but while waiting, you can not be silent, challenge God with His word! After all if He has said it, He will do it. We must continue to pray and not give up till revival comes and even then, we must pray some more. Good things require prayer so they don’t turn bad and the ‘notsogood’ ones also require prayer, so they can be good!

“He raises the poor from the dust, and lifts the beggar from the ash heap, to set them among princes and make them inherit the throne of glory.”- 1 Sam 2:8

“See my servant shall prosper, he shall be highly exalted.”-Isaiah 52:13

“…I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. The mouth of the Lord has spoken.”-Isaiah 58:14

The Lord that spoke in Isaiah 58:14 is the same God we serve! If He has done it before, He will do it again!

This week/month, when men are cast down, then you shall say there is lifting up!

Happy new month once again, have a great week.
